The Czech 3D printer manufacturer Prusa Research has released an update for the Prusa CORE One, which is currently in the final test phase. The manufacturer will be delivering the printer to customers from the end of January. Although the CORE One shares many components with the MK4S, the device has a different technical design, which requires additional firmware and production adjustments.
One significant update concerns the printer’s energy supply system. The previous chain system has been replaced by a “SwingArm” – a pivoting metal arm that guides cable bundles. This change simplifies maintenance work considerably, as cables can be accessed in just a few simple steps. The system is also designed to minimize strain on the cables and thus extend their service life. To prevent damage during transportation, the printer is supplied with the LCD panel removed.
Several accessories are in development. An optional camera for monitoring the printing process will be available from the end of February. Also planned for February or March is an advanced filtration system that combines HEPA and activated carbon filters with a high-pressure fan. Both components can be added to the order, but this may increase the shipping time.
The MMU3 multi-material unit, which enables printing with up to five materials, is still in the test phase. Availability is planned from April 2025.
As announced, the pre-assembled version of the CORE One will be delivered from the end of January. The kit is planned for March, the conversion kit for owners of an MK4S for April.
