Prusament PLA Noctua Colors: Color-matched filaments for PC cases and modding projects

Prusa is expanding its Prusament portfolio with two PLA filaments that are color-matched to the typical brown and beige tones of the fans and coolers from Austrian manufacturer Noctua. The “Prusament PLA Noctua Brown” and “Prusament PLA Noctua Beige” variants are aimed at PC builders and 3D printing users who want to give their hardware and printed components a consistent look. Noctua components are widely used in the PC scene, and their characteristic color scheme characterizes many discreet builds that are suitable for living rooms.

Prusa and Noctua worked together on the color matching for these filaments. The goal was to match the colors of 3D-printed parts as precisely as possible to fans, coolers, and other accessories. This allows cases, bezels, mounts, and even peripherals to be designed to fit seamlessly into existing Noctua setups. The project complements the Noctua models already available on Printables with a matching material, closing a gap in the ecosystem of components, templates, and filament.

As an example, Prusa printed a Mini-ITX case based on a Makerunit design using the Prusa XL and CORE One L, which can accommodate even large components on the printing platform. In addition, a mechanical keyboard with matching keycaps and an original Prusa MK4S converted to Noctua colors were created. The filaments have a satin-like surface and are particularly interesting for users who prefer warm, understated colors.

Technically, it is classic PLA with a heat resistance of about 55 °C. The material is therefore only suitable to a limited extent for components located near highly heated parts. Adequate air circulation and sufficient distance from heat sources are important. Grounding, electrical insulation, and ESD protection also play a role in the construction of printed PC cases. The manufacturer recommends familiarizing yourself with best practices and grounding the power supply properly.

The Noctua filaments are available under the familiar Prusament PLA conditions: Both Noctua Beige and Noctua Brown are offered in 1 kg spools for €32.99 and .99, respectively. Prusa announces that it will develop further materials and colors based on its experience with precise brand colors, including variants for higher temperatures and ESD-critical applications.
