QBIG 3D ceases operations: specialist for large-format 3D printing fails due to restructuring

QBIG 3D, a company specializing in large-format 3D printing solutions, has ceased business operations as of 28 April 2025. Despite the efforts of the provisional insolvency administrator and the management, it was not possible to achieve a viable restructuring. Operations were discontinued with the opening of insolvency proceedings.

QBIG 3D specialized in industrial FDM printing on a large scale and offered the production of technical components for applications in prototyping, toolmaking and small series production. Among other things, the company used extrusion-based printing systems that could process high-temperature-resistant plastics such as ABS, PET-G and CF-reinforced filaments. The company served customers from the mechanical engineering, automotive and architecture sectors.

The market for large-format 3D printing has developed dynamically in recent years, but is characterized by high investment costs and a limited number of specialized applications. In Germany in particular, smaller providers are under pressure from increasing competition from abroad and from the OEM sector. At the same time, volatile raw material prices and rising energy and operating costs are making economically stable production more difficult.

For customers and partners who still have a need for large-volume 3D printed components, the previous Managing Director Dennis Herrmann offers support. Inquiries will continue to be accepted and forwarded to the responsible insolvency administrator or partner companies from the network on request.
