Formnext 2025, the world’s leading trade show for additive manufacturing in Germany, is once again bringing together the industry’s newest technologies and innovations. 3D printer manufacturer QIDI is showcasing its new flagship machine – the QIDI Max4. It offers the largest build volume among enclosed desktop consumer printers while maintaining high printing accuracy. With this, QIDI addresses a key challenge in the industry: “combining large build volumes with high precision.”
The QIDI Max series is known for large-format and versatile printing capabilities — and with the QIDI Max4, it enters its next generation. The build volume of 390 × 390 × 340 mm is 55% larger than that of its predecessor, the Max3. This makes the Max4 ideal for producing large industrial parts, complex molds, and customized prototypes, significantly expanding its usefulness for professional users.
The heated print bed (390 × 390 mm) features a full-surface silicone heating layer with densely arranged heating wires — one of the most uniform designs in its class. Combined with a highly efficient insulation layer underneath, it ensures exceptionally even temperature distribution across the entire surface. This results in strong first-layer adhesion and stable temperatures, ideal for large-format prints without warping.
The QIDI Max4 is equipped with a new high-flow hotend (40 mm³/s), enabling significantly faster print speeds and reducing production time for large parts. Its hardened steel nozzle supports standard materials such as PLA and ABS as well as industrial-grade options like abrasive carbon fiber–reinforced nylon.
QIDI is also debuting its self-developed active toolhead cooling system. The “Polar Cooler” directs cool air precisely onto the extruder and filament, improving heat dissipation and reducing clogging. This is complemented by the second-generation active chamber heating system, which maintains chamber temperatures of up to 65 °C with optimized airflow. Together, these systems create ideal printing conditions for high-temperature materials such as ABS, ABS-CF, and PC.
QIDI Max4: High Stability and Precision
To improve precision and stability, the QIDI Max4 uses a new closed-loop motor system for the X and Y axes. This upgrade offers three major benefits. More stability: An encoder continuously monitors the motor position and instantly compensates for deviations, preventing layer shifts and eliminating step loss. Higher accuracy: Reduced torque ripple minimizes surface artifacts such as rippling or cogging. And improved efficiency: The motors run cooler and quieter even at high speeds, reducing heat exposure to components and extending the printer’s lifespan.
The Max4 also delivers excellent surface quality thanks to its highly stable Z-axis. It uses 2 mm lead screws and an anti-backlash nut to eliminate vertical play. This precise mechanical design ensures smooth motion and high Z-axis accuracy, reducing visible layer lines and improving surface details — even on very tall prints.
The QIDI Max4 further enhances performance with proven components such as a new auto-leveling sensor, industrial-grade linear rails, and custom 1.5GT belts. This robust mechanical setup ensures smooth and precise motion control, resulting in excellent print quality and long-term durability.
QIDI Max4: Smart Design, User-Focused Experience
The QIDI Max4 features a new AI recognition system powered by a high-performance processor that analyzes image data and print instructions in real time. Using an HD camera, it continuously monitors ongoing prints and detects issues such as spaghetti failures or problematic supports. When an anomaly is detected, the printer automatically pauses and sends a notification, reducing the need for manual supervision and minimizing material waste.
A new large touchscreen and redesigned interface provide a smoother and more intuitive user experience. The QIDI BOX further extends its capabilities, enabling multi-color and multi-material printing with up to 16 colors and offering filament drying at temperatures up to 65 °C.
By combining high-temperature performance, precision, and broad material compatibility, the QIDI Max4 enables high-quality multi-material printing of complex objects — from multi-color artistic models to engineering-grade composite parts. This makes it a powerful solution for professional users.
The QIDI Max4 is now available for global pre-order.
As QIDI’s new flagship product, its debut at Formnext 2025 highlights the company’s growing expertise and innovation in 3D printing. The QIDI Max4 is positioned as one of the most competitive large-format 3D printers on the market, offering high efficiency, strong performance, and an intelligent user experience.
Additionally, QIDI’s official online store will launch its BFCM (Black Friday / Cyber Monday) promotion on November 18. Interested customers should watch for updates in the official store: https://qidi3d.com
