RapidMade expands freeform injection molding as a production service

RapidMade Inc. has announced the expansion of its Freeform Injection Molding (FIM) offering. In addition to manufacturing end-use parts as a service, the company now offers 3D printing and injection molding equipment for purchase. This expansion enables companies to integrate the technology into their own production processes.

FIM combines the advantages of additively manufactured molds with the precision of classic injection molding. Instead of conventional metal molds, high-resolution, additively manufactured tools are used, which shortens lead times and reduces costs. At the same time, the process enables the economical production of smaller series and complex geometries.

“With Freeform Injection Molding, we’re eliminating the constraints of conventional tooling,” said Micah Chaban, Founder of RapidMade Inc. “By offering both an end-use parts service and the technology itself, we empower manufacturers to iterate faster, reduce costs, and produce intricate parts that were previously unfeasible.”

RapidMade’s FIM solution supports a wide range of materials, including thermoplastics and elastomers. The company’s experience in designing and optimizing additively manufactured molds ensures high-quality series parts with high flexibility.

“Customers can now choose the solution that best fits their needs,” said Micah Chaban, VP of Sales. “Whether they require a turnkey service for molded parts or want to invest in their own FIM production capabilities, we provide the expertise and equipment to make it happen.”

“Freeform Injection Molding is not a replacement for steel tooling but a powerful complement. By prototyping in the exact production resin, manufacturers can refine designs with greater confidence before investing in traditional molds. For low-volume production, FIM provides an alternative, eliminating the need for metal tooling altogether.”

The combination of additive manufacturing and injection molding enables more efficient production and new opportunities for companies looking to reduce costs and respond more flexibly to market demands.
