Ricoh and Insight Surgery expand access to patient-specific surgical guides

Ricoh USA, Inc. and Insight Surgery have announced a strategic partnership to bring patient-specific surgical guides for orthopedic and maxillofacial surgeries to the market. This collaboration aims to improve access to advanced surgical tools and increase surgical precision. The development is seen as particularly promising in the field of paediatrics and orthopaedics, as these personalized solutions can significantly optimize surgical care.

“This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to turn patient information into clinical and economic ROI,” said Gary Turner, Managing Director, Ricoh USA, Inc. “By leveraging Insight Surgery’s expertise and our own robust healthcare network, we are democratizing access to cutting-edge, patient-specific technologies, especially in underserved segments like pediatric care. We are setting a new standard for personalized surgery.”

The partnership will enable Ricoh to distribute Insight Surgery’s surgical guides, which are individually designed for each patient. These guides are used in various surgical fields, including pediatric and adult orthopedic procedures, bone deformity treatments and facial reconstructive surgery. The customization of the guides is based on precise digital surgical plans and allows surgeons to operate more accurately, reducing surgery times and minimizing complications.

“Ricoh USA’s extensive presence in the healthcare sector, combined with its distribution and clinical application capabilities, makes them an ideal partner for Insight Surgery,” said Henry Pinchbeck, CEO of Insight Surgery. “By integrating our innovative surgical planning and guide solutions with Ricoh’s point-of-care network and enterprise-wide hospital 3D printing programs, we can offer surgeons reliable, fast, and high-quality devices to enhance patient outcomes. This partnership propels our shared vision of making personalized surgery available to every surgeon in the nation.”

The surgical guides are developed using Insight Surgery’s EmbedMed platform, which supports seamless integration of patient data and digital surgical planning. This platform enables the guides to be precisely manufactured in certified ISO 13485 and FDA-registered facilities and delivered within ten to twenty days.

Ricoh and Insight Surgery will showcase their solutions at HLTH 2024 in Las Vegas.
