Sam O’Leary von SLM Solutions tritt dem Vorstand von Thinking Huts bei

Sam O’Leary, CEO of 3D printing specialist SLM Solutions, has joined the board of directors of Thinking Huts. Thinking Huts is an international non-profit organization that utilizes additive manufacturing to construct schools in developing countries.

“By building schools using 3D printing, Thinking Huts is able to provide education infrastructure in a sustainable and efficient manner,” O’Leary explained. “This approach has the potential to revolutionize how schools are built in the developing world, making it possible to build more schools and serve more students than traditional construction techniques would allow.”

Thinking Huts works closely with the communities on the projects and attempts to facilitate a technology transfer in this context to independently propagate the possibilities of 3D printing. Currently, Thinking Huts is in the process of scaling its system to build the world’s first additively manufactured school campus on the West Coast of Madagascar. The NGO, which employs local workers for all construction projects, will simultaneously launch a training program for technicians in additive manufacturing to support the growth of native teams.
