Scan And Make – Platform Connecting Users and Makers to Realise 3D Projects

Founded by Filippo Conti, Scan And Make is a platform where makers and users can come together to meet their needs for prototyping or other 3D design projects.

Architects, students, industrial designers, artists or anyone else who would like to turn their ideas into physical 3D objects, can connect to makers using equipment such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC milling machines along with their skills for 3D design, 3D file correction or Arduino programming for example, to create prototypes or other 3D projects.

This is how it works: The users of the website can post a project containing all the informations needed for the maker to asses production costs. Every maker then will be able to participate to the auction, making their offer (or quote). Once the user has chosen the best offer, the maker can contact him and proceed with the production. Users of the platform can contact makers also directly and ask him or her for a quote or to take part in an auction. Payment via Paypal is also processed through the platform, with Scan And Make obtaining a 3.33% commission for services performed.

Currently, following skills and techniques are covered: 2D file conversion and correction, 3D design, 3D file conversion and correction, 3D printing, 3D scanning, Arduino, CAD, CNC milling, electronics, laser cutting, PCB design and production and Raspberry Pi.
