The dental laboratory Schollmeier Dental has successfully met the challenge of making its post-processing processes for 3D-printed resin products more efficient. By using the automated PostProcess DEMI 430 solution, the company was able to achieve significant improvements. The key criteria in selecting this solution were a safe working environment, improved resin removal and increased capacity.
Traditionally, isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is used to remove excess resin after 3D printing. However, this method poses health risks and requires frequent changes of solvent, which interrupts the workflow and leads to high operating costs. Schollmeier Dental opted for the PostProcess solution, which enables automated and consistent cleaning and replaces the use of IPA with the PLM-403-SUB chemical agent. This has a higher saturation capacity, which drastically reduces the frequency of solvent changes.
The introduction of the DEMI 430 system has not only resulted in a safer working environment, but has also simplified the resin removal process. Schollmeier Dental has seen a reduction in IPA consumption from 180 liters to just 60 liters of the new cleaning agent per year. The consistency of the automated cleaning process has reduced the daily working time in the laboratory by one hour. Print jobs are now carried out overnight, followed by efficient resin removal in the morning.
The positive results have motivated Schollmeier Dental to automate other areas of their production. By using modern technologies such as the PostProcess solution, the company has shown how automation can be successfully implemented in the dental industry to increase both efficiency and occupational safety.
