Series production in 3D printing: 1zu1 expands portfolio with hot lithography

The Austrian company 1zu1 is introducing an innovative 3D printing process called Hot Lithography. This technology, developed by Cubicure, enables the production of robust, delicate and even sterilisable series components without complex post-processing.

Hot lithography combines the advantages of stereolithography and selective laser sintering. The process utilises special high-viscosity resins, which are processed using heating and precise laser technology. An 18 micrometre laser beam diameter allows wall thicknesses from 0.1 millimetres with high surface quality.

Thomas Kohler, CEO of 1zu1, emphasises the versatility: ‘Hot lithography enriches the spectrum of fast and cost-efficient series production in 3D printing with a variety of materials. The technology opens up new areas of application – for example in medical technology and the electronics industry.’

One of the main advantages of the process is the wide variety of materials. There are currently seven materials available that offer different properties such as temperature resistance, impact strength or flame resistance. Markus Schrittwieser, Innovation Manager at 1zu1, emphasises: ‘With the photopolymers from Cubicure, components with a temperature resistance of up to 300 degrees Celsius are possible – a previously unattainable value.’

The technology is suitable for various quantities, from individual parts to series production. The usual surface finishing is no longer required, which reduces production time and costs.

Markus Kury, Chief Product Officer at Cubicure, sees the partnership with 1zu1 as an opportunity to realise the potential of digital manufacturing on an industrial scale. The technology will initially be introduced with selected pilot customers and will be firmly anchored in 1zu1’s portfolio from mid-November.

With the introduction of Hot Lithography, 1zu1 is expanding its offering as an all-round service partner for 3D printing series. The company, part of the international Prototal Group, is thus continuing its course as a specialist for high-quality prototypes and series.
