Chinese 3D scanning specialist SHINING 3D has launched BlueStar Mapping, a new software solution for texture mapping. The application uses artificial intelligence and photogrammetry, among other things, to simplify the process of creating high-resolution, true-color 3D models. According to the manufacturer, the software is available free of charge and is aimed at professional users in areas such as heritage conservation, product visualization and digital archiving.
BlueStar Mapping is designed to complement existing 3D scanning workflows. The software automatically recognizes the main structure of an object, merges different texture data and enables the processing of seams. A key feature is the seamless data transfer from supported 3D scanners, which significantly reduces manual effort. According to SHINING 3D, the application achieves an accuracy of up to 0.1 millimetres.
Thanks to AI-based automation, time-consuming work steps such as the manual assignment of textures or the post-processing of transitions can be significantly accelerated. The software supports common scanner formats and its intuitive user interface is designed to ensure smooth processing even for more complex projects. For users who are already working with SHINING 3D hardware, the one-click workflow, in which data is transferred directly to the texturing software, is particularly useful.
