Singapore continues to strengthen its position as a digital manufacturing hub. At the 13th Global Additive Manufacturing Summit (GAMS) of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC), several strategic partnerships were presented.
The focus is on the cooperation with the manufacturing company Eng Teknologi International. Together with NAMIC, the company aims to expand its expertise in 3D printing for the automotive, semiconductor and life science industries. It is also working with SkillsFuture Singapore and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers to develop a skills framework for additive manufacturing.
A key component of the initiative is the new Digital Design Innovation Center (DDIC). It is designed to make it easier for small and medium-sized companies to get started with 3D printing and digital inventory solutions. At the same time, Medairum opened an ISO13485-certified medical device and orthotic manufacturing facility.
“These public-private partnerships strengthen Singapore’s position as an international digital manufacturing hub. They provide a strong talent pool and collaborative ecosystem,” said Dr. Ho Chaw Sing, CEO of NAMIC. The organization aims to help companies develop the necessary skills and promote the transition to more sustainable manufacturing practices through additive manufacturing.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Culture, Community, Youth and Trade, highlighted the opportunities of 3D printing combined with artificial intelligence and green technologies. The new partnerships are expected to drive the development of innovative applications and increase demand for local 3D printing services.
