With Sketchurizer, the Essen-based start-up GenerIO is providing a new tool that aims to simplify the creation of 3D models through the use of generative AI. The tool combines freehand sketches with voice input and generates three-dimensional designs based on your own AI models. GenerIO is currently offering Sketchurizer in an open beta phase and allows users to test it free of charge.
The application is aimed at designers, engineers and developers who want to create complex 3D models without the usual modeling effort. In contrast to conventional CAD systems, Sketchurizer is based on multimodal operation. Users draw a shape sketch and supplement it with voice or text-based instructions. The system interprets this combination in a context-sensitive manner and converts it into a 3D model that can be printed or simulated.
The underlying technology is based on several years of research in the field of computer graphics and artificial intelligence. According to the company, the team has developed its own neural networks and trained them specifically for geometry understanding, topology recognition and CAD-related model structuring.
GenerIO was founded in 2025 and is funded by the EU and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, among others. The company pursues a user-centered development approach in which practical feedback flows directly into further development in short cycles. Autodesk already awarded the Sketchurizer a prize last year, and this year the jury has once again included it among the finalists of the 3D Pioneers Challenge.
Interested users can register for the test phase on the company’s website. The developers hope that this will provide impetus for further functions and an optimization of the user flow – particularly with regard to use in design processes and the rapid generation of 3D printable models.
