Smoothie-3D is a free online software that allows you to create 3D models from 2D photos.
After importing a picture you have to draw an outline on the image to be converted. The software then intuitively extrapolates a 3D model. Each section of the object however needs to be selected separately for the software to calculate the model including texture. Once finished, the model can be exported as OBJ, STL or VRML file to get it 3D printed – either on your own printer or using one of the 3D printing services offered via the direct interface.

To get access to the free software you simply need to sign up on the Smoothie-3D website. You will then also be able to import and share models created within the community.
