Stratasys has announced a collaboration with Baralan, a leading supplier of packaging for the cosmetics industry. Together, the companies will use Stratasys’ PolyJet technology to create innovative ways to design and produce customized cosmetics packaging. With the new technology, glass and plastic containers can be decorated directly, which is particularly beneficial for smaller production quantities and high-level personalization.
PolyJet technology makes it possible to print multi-colored and complex designs directly onto containers. This expands creative options for cosmetics brands while reducing reliance on traditional manufacturing methods. Brands benefit from the flexibility to design their packaging in a brand-specific and sustainable way. According to Stratasys, by integrating this technology, production waste can be minimized while avoiding tooling investment costs.
Maurizio Ficcadenti, Global R&D Manager at Baralan, emphasizes the importance of this innovation: “The ability to customize is essential for the brand image. With the Stratasys solution, we can offer distinctive and unique packaging without having to invest heavily in additional equipment. This is not only economical, but also an important step towards sustainable packaging solutions.”
Stratasys emphasizes that PolyJet technology enables companies to respond more quickly to design requirements. By using multi-material printing with different textures and transparency levels, brands can create visually appealing and functional packaging. “This partnership demonstrates how 3D printing can transform the cosmetics industry,” explains Zehavit Reisin, Senior VP at Stratasys. “Brands gain more creative freedom while achieving sustainable goals.”
