Stratasys Becomes Official 3D Printing Partner of NASCAR

Stratasys Ltd. has announced an expanded, long-term partnership with NASCAR, becoming the official 3D printing partner of the organization. NASCAR will exclusively use Stratasys technologies for the development and production of parts and tools, fully replacing previous manufacturing methods.

As part of the collaboration, a state-of-the-art 3D printing lab is being established at the NASCAR Research & Development Center in Concord, North Carolina. The lab will feature various Stratasys systems, including the F370, 450mc, and F900 (FDM printers) as well as the NEO800 (SL printer). These technologies will support the research, development, and manufacturing of parts for NASCAR’s three national series. By leveraging 3D printing, engineers can create prototypes more quickly, customize components, and produce them more efficiently to meet the demanding requirements of motorsports.

“Partnering with Stratasys allows NASCAR to push the boundaries of performance and accuracy like never before,” said John Probst, Executive Vice President, Chief Racing Development Officer at NASCAR. “Their 3D printing technology empowers us to quickly iterate and optimize components, ensuring that our staff have the best possible machines to stay ahead in this high-stakes environment. Stratasys has proven to be a valuable partner, and this agreement represents our commitment to staying at the forefront of motorsports innovation.”

Stratasys is expanding the existing FDM capabilities at the NASCAR R&D Center to enable the production of larger parts. In addition, Stratasys’ stereolithography (SL) technology will be introduced to support applications such as aerodynamic testing, prototyping, and high-precision tooling. Currently, 3D-printed components are already in use in all NASCAR Cup Series vehicles, including a cold air inlet vent and a NACA duct for heat extraction, produced using materials like Nylon11 and ULTEM 9085.

“Our partnership with NASCAR allows Stratasys to showcase the unique advantages of 3D printing in motorsports,” said Rich Garrity, Chief Business Unit Officer at Stratasys. “From on-demand manufacturing of custom components to speeding up the design cycle, we’re helping NASCAR with faster production times and enhanced part performance. Furthermore, our work in high-performance environments like NASCAR spurs innovation in the production of commercial vehicles, demonstrating the broader impact of additive manufacturing across the automotive industry.”
