Stratasys receives EcoVadis certification for sustainability in additive manufacturing

3D printing specialist Stratasys has received EcoVadis certification for the first time, achieving a silver rating. This puts the company in the top ten percent of companies assessed in terms of sustainability practices. EcoVadis is an independent assessment platform that evaluates companies according to criteria from the areas of environment, ethics, labor rights and sustainable procurement.

With this rating, Stratasys emphasizes its commitment to sustainable manufacturing methods. The company pursues strategies to reduce its ecological footprint under the concept of “Mindful Manufacturing”. This includes more efficient production processes, the increased use of recyclable materials and energy-optimized manufacturing processes.

“Our strategy combines profitability with sustainability and leverages the unique capabilities of additive manufacturing to positively impact businesses and manufacturers around the world,” said Dr. Yoav Zeif, Director and Chief Executive Officer of Stratasys. “Being recognized by EcoVadis validates our commitment to helping our customers achieve their strategic sustainability goals.”

A central aspect of the strategy is the optimization of the value chain. Digital manufacturing methods and local production can reduce transport routes and the associated emissions. In addition, additive manufacturing enables demand-driven production, which minimizes material waste. Stratasys also invests in lifecycle analyses to quantify the impact of its products over their entire useful life.

“The EcoVadis silver sustainability rating gives our customers and partners confidence that Stratasys has the practices, policies and solutions in place to help them achieve their ESG and sustainability goals,” said Rosa Coblens, VP Global Sustainability and Communications at Stratasys. “This achievement is a validation of the diligent work Stratasys employees and our entire supply chain have done to make significant progress toward advancing sustainability in manufacturing.”

Additive manufacturing offers many opportunities to replace conventional, resource-intensive manufacturing processes. While many companies are still looking for more environmentally friendly production methods, Stratasys’ EcoVadis certification underlines its sustainable approach and positions it as a partner for companies that value resource-efficient manufacturing.
