Synera has announced the integration of Hexagon‘s AM STUDIO support technology into its platform. The aim is to further automate additive manufacturing processes and relieve engineers of time-consuming manual tasks. This expansion complements Synera’s existing collaborations with Inkbit, Fraunhofer IAPT and EOS and strengthens the company’s position in the field of process automation.
Hexagon’s AM STUDIO support technology addresses a key problem in metal additive manufacturing: the efficient creation of support structures. Engineers often spend a lot of time manually configuring part orientations and support strategies, often based on experience rather than standardized methods. With five different support types – including Rod, Line, Block, Tree and Adaptive Cell – Hexagon offers a solution that optimizes both build time and material consumption. By integrating with the Synera platform, engineers can incorporate these features into automated workflows, significantly increasing efficiency.
“The integration with Hexagon advances our mission to eliminate manual tasks in AM workflow,” says Andrew Sartorelli, Product Management Lead. ” We’re seeing customers now able build their own end-to-end AM workflows with Synera’s new support generation features alongside our existing capabilities.”
The Synera platform also offers the Additive Design Toolkit (ADT) from Fraunhofer IAPT, which automates geometric checks and identifies potential weak points in the component geometry. The EOS Print Connector also enables the direct transfer of build parameters to EOS machines. With the new integration of Hexagon’s support technology, Synera extends these capabilities with optimized support strategies that can be directly integrated into the manufacturing process.
“Open partnerships and seamless integrations are at the heart of advancing additive manufacturing.” says Daniel Stadmayr, Senior Product Manager for Hexagon AMSTUDIO. “By bringing HxGN AM Studio Support to Synera, we’re not only enhancing user capabilities but also contributing to a broader ecosystem that accelerates innovation and progress in AM. It’s exciting to see our tools empower Synera users with smarter, more automated workflows.”
Automation in additive manufacturing is seen as a key enabler for scaling production while maintaining cost efficiency. Synera’s advanced capabilities create a platform that meets the growing needs of the industry and provides engineers with powerful tools for optimized workflows.
