TCT Conference 2014, Birmingham: EOS highlihgts a variety of Additive Manufacturing (AM) success stories for multiple industry applications

EOS, the technology and market leader for design-driven, Additive Manufacturing (AM) solutions, between September 30 and October 2, 2014 will showcase its solution portfolio on their booth F 16 at TCT show + personalize 2014. Celebrating the headquarters 25 years anniversary this year, EOS played a crucial role in developing the powder-based, industrial layer by layer manufacturing– particularly for Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) process. Stuart Jackson, Regional Manager UK for EOS states: “EOS in the UK was one of the first international subsidiaries the company set up as far back as 2001. Since then, we have built up a strong local presence both in installed base but also in terms of the UK support organisation.”  “Locally, we work with some of the most innovative companies towards production readiness of our technology – developing it from Rapid Prototyping into a true manufacturing and series production technology.” And he adds: “In the UK, we have a lot of early adopter customers who very early on saw the paradigm shifting power of this technology and continue to push the boundaries of AM together with us every day. Today, the route to production acceptance is no longer about making the most of the freedom of design in Additive Manufacturing. Instead, it is key to take the benchmarks set by other manufacturing technologies, to meet them and add the unique benefits of a layer-by-layer AM process like the one EOS offers. EOS pushes this development with quite a number of strong local partners.”

Key Note speech Dr Hans J. Langer at TCT Conference
On September 30, founder and CEO of EOS – Dr Hans J. Langer – will be hosting a key note speech between 10.10 and 10.35h local time at the TCT Conference. With the audience he will be sharing the story of how it all began 25 years ago, why it was – and still is – a story of risk and reward and how the company developed into what it is today. In their introduction, TCT describes him as “[…] one of the most quietly influential members of the AM and 3D printing world for over two decades. […]” According to them “he has built one of the most trusted and diverse brands in the sphere.” This session is open to all TCT attendees and we kindly invite you to join.

EOS M 290 DMLS system: extensive quality management, expanded monitoring functions
At the show, broad variety of industry applications and the recently launched EOS M 290 Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) system will be at display. The successor to the established and market-leading EOSINT M 280 is designed for the tool-free production of high-quality serial components, spare parts and prototypes. With a build volume of 250 mm x 250 mm x 325 mm, the EOS M 290 permits flexible and economic manufacturing of metal components. EOS has incorporated proven elements from the M 280 system generation in the new EOS M 290, yet at the same time, the EOS M 290 allows the company to set new standards in Additive Manufacturing while expanding the product portfolio for metal applications and extending the EOS innovation leadership in terms of quality management and monitoring. The new system is designed to serve both the requirements of serial-production customers as well as improving build quality for customers for Rapid Prototyping. Yet central processing elements have been retained: process chamber, gas stream, process parameters, etc. The new EOS M 290 offers extensive monitoring functions both for the system itself and for monitoring the build process. This adds even more extensive quality assurance to the field of Additive Manufacturing. The EOS M 290 has been rendered even more user friendly thanks to the new EOSYSTEM machine software, which allows intuitive and task-oriented operation of the system via a graphic user interface, which was developed especially for production environments. In addition, an operator assistant is included which guides the user through the program. The solution portfolio for the EOS M 290 also includes data preparation software, component handling devices, and extensive services.
