UBOT 3D – polish manufacturer of FFF 3D printers hits international markets with industrial grade P440 machine

UBOT 3D – polish manufacturer of popular FFF 3D printers is going to introduce its latest 3D printer to international markets. The official launch of P440 – the new industrial 3D printer, took place in April 2018, during the X-th edition of the 3D Printing Days fair in Kielce, Poland. Now, the company wants to introduce its device to a wider audience interested in additive manufacturing.

UBOT P440 was made by UBOT 3D – manufacturer of additive devices from Krakow, Poland. It is a first device from the new „Professional line”, which is distinguishing by the excellent quality of the details. A large working area (440 x 330 x 300 mm) enables the production of large-size models from a wide range of materials. And that is just the beginning of a long list of new features and advantages of this machine.

An independent air circulation system for heating the chamber

UBOT P440 has a special 1500 W chamber heating system, which generates heat and distributes it over the entire chambers volume. The UBOT3D feature differs from the standard 3D printer heating system of the chamber, where the source of temperature used to warm up the chamber is only a print bed.

In UBOT P440 the applied fan system was used to evenly distribute the heated air. An independent air circulation system has been designed in such a way that there will be no undesirable sudden temperature fluctuations. The user does not have to worry about the cleanliness of air in his workshop. When the cooling process has finished, the air is filtered through a four-stage chamber filter (HEPA, coal, PP and cold catalysis) and removed from the chamber also by fan.

Construction of the print bed

The print bed used in the design of the UBOT P440 consists of three components:

  • base print bed – made of steel with a thickness of 6 mm for appropriate stiffness,
  • heated printbed – made of aluminum, whose basic function is to maintain a stable temperature on the entire surface of the working area. Heating is carried out by a system with a power of 800W,
  • elastic printbed – is covered with an adhesive coating, which prevents deformation during printing.

The print bed is not perforated, which allows user to print 3D models without generating raft. Furthermore, the whole table structure is fastened by magnets which allows for easier removal of models after the finished 3D printing.

The maximum temperature of print bed is 150°C.

The table leveling process is fully automated – the software creates the entire table image and then generates its image using the finite element method. This ensures that the print bed of the 3D printer will be calibrated correctly.

Extruder UBOT Hercules & Hotend Hellfire

Both extruder UBOT Hercules and Hotend Hellfire (based on two heaters) are completely innovative solutions. The extruder has been optimized for materials suited for 3D printing in high temperatures. The use of double coupling and increased torque allows the extrusion of material with double force. At the same time, the risk of abrasion of material or interruption of the 3D printing process is minimized.

Hellfire Hotend allows for additive manufacturing from materials in very high temperatures – the maximum temperature at which the nozzle is heated up to 400°C. Diameter of nozzle may vary from 0.1 mm – 0.2 mm to 1.2 mm.

Intelligent management

An additional advantage of the 3D printer is the user-friendly interface and automation of the device. The 3D printer is equipped with internal memory – it allows user to transfer a file from computer and start a process of additive manufacturing (even if the pendrive is not in the 3D printer connector). Furthermore, adaptation of the device for automatic updating allow users to be up-to-date with the latest facilities proposed by the manufacturer.

The device has been equipped with „expert mode”, allowing the user to perform some experiments with a 3D printer. This feature is targeted for more experienced users who would like to have more control of machine parameters.

User is able to control printer by both computer and phone. In addition, the user can operate more than one 3D printer at the same time. The device has been also equipped with a camera and proper lighting of the working chamber, enabling monitoring of the 3D printing process.

Filament management

3D printer is equipped with filament control – it is able to detect not only the ending material, but also problems with the filament (eg. clogged nozzle or tangled material). UBOT P440 additionally has the option of informing about such problems by SMS (if it has a network connection) – the user can get a notification eg. about the ending material.

The amount of material remaining is monitored on an ongoing basis – information on the measurement of the filament quantity on the reel can be displayed on the 3D printer screen or via a mobile phone. However, the ending material is not a problem – the printer 3D has been equipped with the ability to order filaments directly through the device.

Auxiliary power

3D printer is able to work for an average of 30 minutes (depending on the level of its load – when printing from PLA can work up to an hour) after switching off the power.
This could eliminate a known problem with 3D print processes that can not be resumed
