The 3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker has announced the compatibility of its Method series with the Cura software. The new version 5.6 of Cura now includes profiles for the Method X and Method XL models as well as new materials such as ABS.
According to Ultimaker, this is the first time that users can take full advantage of the Method printers and benefit from the extensive functions of the popular Cura slicing software. Over 600 settings are available for maximum printing flexibility.
The Method series is aimed at professional users who want to print large, high-quality components for manufacturing and toolmaking. According to Ultimaker, the Method XL in particular enables complex parts to be printed from heat-resistant ABS thanks to its 30x30x32cm build volume.
Until now, Method printers have used the cloud solution CloudPrint. With the Cura integration, Ultimaker now also wants to appeal to companies that prefer local software for security reasons. Further improvements such as material profiles and compatibility with the Digital Factory are planned for future releases.
