UltiMaker has unveiled MakerBot Nebula, a new learning platform designed to combine AI-powered, differentiated learning with 3D printing for schools. The platform is currently in the beta phase and is aimed at teachers who want to digitally enhance their lessons.
MakerBot Nebula combines project-based learning with AI-powered support. The platform offers tools such as the Learning Station, which teachers can use to teach the basics of 3D printing, the operation of UltiMaker and MakerBot printers and design thinking. An Experience Builder makes it possible to create learning paths that can be adapted to the pace, style and interests of the students. There is also a Funding Assistant that helps with funding applications. In the current beta version, some functions such as certificates or advanced printer diagnostics are not yet available.
The platform is intended to help teachers gain more time for individual support and provide students with practical knowledge in the field of 3D printing. “MakerBot has always believed in learning by doing. With Nebula, we want to combine technology, didactics and creativity,” explains Dottie Stewart, VP Sales America & Global Education Strategy at UltiMaker.
At the same time, UltiMaker has launched a new grant program. The MakerBot Grants are aimed at teachers in the USA and Canada. Applicants can receive a package worth over 4,000 US dollars, including a MakerBot Sketch Sprint 3D printer, filament, training materials and services. At least ten of these grants will be awarded by the end of 2025.
Interested parties can apply via the project’s website. Criteria for selection include expected impact on students, need and degree of innovation. UltiMaker’s aim with Nebula is not only to supply devices, but also to lead teaching concepts and didactics into the digital future.
