UltiMaker has introduced a new generation of its S series with the S8. The new desktop 3D printer offers up to four times the productivity of its predecessor, the S7. With higher printing speeds, improved material handling and integration into the UltiMaker Digital Factory, the S8 is aimed in particular at professional users and companies.
The UltiMaker S8 achieves a print speed of up to 500 mm/s and acceleration values of 50,000 mm/s². This is made possible by the new Cheetah Motion Planner, which controls optimized motion sequences. In addition, an improved feeder system ensures more precise material feeding, especially for high-performance materials. New AA+ and CC+ print cores are designed for higher flow rates and increase efficiency with complex geometries.
Dual extrusion allows simultaneous printing with two materials, for example for load-bearing components with soluble support structures. In combination with the expanded UltiMaker Marketplace, which lists over 300 compatible filaments, new application possibilities are opening up. These include the newly introduced UltiMaker Nylon CF Slide, a high-strength nylon 612 copolymer with carbon fiber reinforcement. It offers a heat-resistant (up to 180°C) and low-friction alternative to POM plastics.
Cura Cloud is being launched alongside the S8 as part of the UltiMaker Digital Factory. Users can manage, slice and send prints directly to compatible printers via the cloud. The system offers various subscriptions to optimize workflows from individual users to large teams.
