The Upcoming 2nd International Interdisciplinary 3D Conference Kicks Off With the 3D Innovation Challenge

HUNGARY- After the immense success of last year’s conference, the University of Pécs’ 3D new project, PTE3D, is returning with the 2nd International Interdisciplinary 3D Conference, Hungary’s premier 3D visualization and 3D printing event. This year’s event will take place from October 6 to 8 at the Szentágothai Research Centre, and will feature exhibitions from prominent industry leaders across the world, including EOS, Stratasys, 3D Systems, and many others. The conference will include lectures and workshops on medicine, dentistry, bioprinting, architecture, mechanical engineering, and arts, and will include lectures from honorable 3D technology experts from Switzerland, Germany, United States, and throughout the world.

To kick things off, PTE3D is currently hosting the 3D Innovation Challenge, a contest for anyone with an innovative and disruptive idea regarding the achievements that can be made with 3D printing technology. To participate, simply show off an idea that showcases the potential of 3D printing processes or 3D visualization. The contest is open for undergraduate students, post-graduate students, and tutors, individual entries only.

After including a basic description of your idea (2 page max.), your utilization strategy, and the material requirements on your application, send it to application@pte3d.hu by the upcoming deadline, which is on September 23 at noon. Prizes include various laptops, tablets, and the chance to have your idea actualized with the assistance of the University of Pécs.

The presentation of the final eight entries for the 3D Innovation Challenge will take place during the opening day of the conference, but prior to that, the Materialise Mimics team will host a course on medical image based engineering that morning. The course will feature four separate sessions that will include lessons on segmentation, device design, meshing for computational analysis, preparing parts for 3D printing, making it the perfect place for students, doctors, and medical device designers looking to learn more about the potential impact they can make on the medical industry with 3D technology.

Not only does this year mark a newfound celebration in the 2nd International Interdisciplinary 3D Conference, it’s also a historic time for the University of Pécs, which is on the brink of celebrating its 650th anniversary. PTE3D, which is a major part of the University of Pécs 650 Jubilee program series, stands to benefit the school greatly, as the 5.5 million euros tendered from the upcoming event will be used to establish a 3D printing and visualization research center. Attendance for the 2nd International Interdisciplinary 3D Conference is free of charge, but registration is required.

The conference will be hosted by the renowned Dr. László Palkovics, State Minister for Higher Educations, along with other prestigious individuals in Hungarian academia, including Dr. Zsolt Páva (Major of Pécs), Dr. József Bódis (Rector of University of Pécs), Dr. Attila Miseta (Dean of UP Medical School), and Dr. Miklós Nyitrai Vice Dean for Science, UP Medical School. The event will have something for every student, innovator, or industry professional, from 3D printing for the automotive industry to medical bioprinting.

You can register and check out the extensive lineup of world-class lecturers and workshops on http://conference.pte3d.hu/.
