The Magdeburg-based company URWAHN has received three major awards for its urban e-bike STADTFUCHS. Honored with the Green Product Award 2025 for Best Mobility Product, the MUSE Design Award in Gold, and the New York Design Award in Platinum, the STADTFUCHS was recognized for its combination of sustainable manufacturing, technical innovation, and design quality. Central to this recognition is the e-bike’s frame, which is produced using metal-based additive manufacturing.
The manufacturing concept of the STADTFUCHS relies on a locally produced, 3D-printed steel frame with a modular structure that facilitates easy repair. By utilizing additive manufacturing, URWAHN achieves short supply chains, high material efficiency, and flexible series production. All components are produced under fair conditions within Europe. The Green Future Club emphasized the project’s forward-thinking social and environmental approach.
From a design perspective, the STADTFUCHS also impressed. The MUSE Design Award 2025, presented in the Transportation Design category, highlighted the successful integration of form and function. The jury praised the holistic design approach and the sustainable manufacturing method, which uses 3D printing to offer new design flexibility while conserving resources.
The New York Design Award 2025 focused on the social relevance of design. The jury emphasized that the STADTFUCHS not only reimagines urban mobility but also challenges conventional manufacturing processes through an ethically driven, locally grounded, and circular production model.
Sebastian Meinecke, founder and CEO of URWAHN, stated: “These awards clearly affirm our philosophy: design, technology, and responsibility belong together. The STADTFUCHS demonstrates what sustainable mobility from Europe with global ambition can look like—uncompromising in design, and with maximum impact.”
