Finissage 1069 is a product based on alkyd resin and nitrocellulose that can be used to smooth out the surface of 3D printed objects.
The fine grain paste can be applied to objects printed from ABS and PLA and dries quickly. You can then sand the surface and apply another layer to further improve the result. Eve Parker from the team of SLS 3D has tested the product on a base of a 3D printed vase, which she was able to smooth out after applying two layers and sanding them down. The surface can then be treated with finishes such as paint or enamel. With a price tag of under £ 5 for 180 g the paste is an affordable way to get rid of small imperfections, holes, scratches or the visible layers of 3D printed objects in general.
