The Belgian company ValCUN and the Dutch ecosystem AMcubator are joining forces to establish additive manufacturing (AM) as an integral part of industrial production. ValCUN, known for its Molten Metal Deposition (MMD) technology, dispenses with powder, lasers and complex post-processing.
Instead, the company relies on a cost-efficient and safe process that enables both individual customization and series production. The partnership with AMcubator, a 1100 m² innovation center in Eindhoven, gives ValCUN access to an interdisciplinary network of hardware, software and material experts.
“We house leading 3D printing companies in hardware, software, materials, validation and automation. All together in one area,” says Maarten van Dijk, the initiator of AMcubator. “We are taking the role as facilitator between the participants to ensure a one-stop-shop for all industries looking to onboard 3D printing as a production technology. A company that wants to start with 3D printing, can find expertise, support and test facilities to discover if 3D printing can be the answer to their question and to find out how they can use 3D printing to scale.”
As part of the European project “Optimization of Production by 3DP” (3DOP), funded by the I3 instrument of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), ValCUN will demonstrate how its MMD technology enables economically relevant applications. The project promotes investment in AM innovation to shape the manufacturing of the future.
Jonas Galle, co-founder & CEO ValCUN points out: “ValCUN, AMcubator and 3DOP share the same vision and it is a real pleasure that we can bundle forces to work towards the same goal. Looking forward to expand this concept together with the AMcubator partners amongst all 3DoP consortium members and beyond.”
Jan De Pauw, CTO ValCUN, adds: “To make this concept even more concrete, the 3DOP consortium launched an Open Call to innovative companies to let them explore the possibilities of industrial Additive Manufacturing for their business. We hope that this minifactory concept at BIC acts as a trigger and enabler for this Open Call.”
This concept will be presented at Formnext in Frankfurt, where ValCUN will lead technical sessions and be present at booth D09 in hall 12.0.
