Velo3D appoints Darren Beckett as Chief Technology Officer

The US company Velo3D, which specializes in the additive manufacturing of metal components, has introduced Darren Beckett as its new Chief Technology Officer. Beckett, who brings more than 25 years of experience in technology development and business management, will lead Velo3D’s technology strategy and be responsible for the further development of internal and external innovation projects.

Beckett previously served as Vice President of Engineering at Woodruff Scientific and Chief Technology Officer at Sigma Additive Solutions. In these positions, he was instrumental in the development of quality assurance processes for 3D printing. Prior to that, he spent over two decades at Intel, where he held various technical and leadership roles, particularly in the areas of 3D manufacturing and new technology development. His experience in combining technical expertise and strategic leadership will help Velo3D to take the next step in the development of additive manufacturing.

“We are excited to have Darren join the company as his proven track record of building and leading next generation technology teams to create innovative solutions aligns perfectly with Velo3D’s mission to accelerate our leadership position in additive manufacturing,” said Arun Jeldi, CEO of Velo3D. “His ability to blend technical expertise with strategic leadership will be instrumental in executing our new corporate vision and driving our next phase of growth.”

Velo3D was founded in 2014 with the aim of enabling engineers to produce complex metal components using additive manufacturing technologies. The company launched its first Sapphire printers in 2018 and was able to significantly expand its production capacity in the following years. With the market launch of the large-format Sapphire XC in 2021, demand for the systems continued to rise.

“I am thrilled to join Velo3D and contribute to its vision of enabling customers to utilize additive manufacturing to rapidly scale the production of their most complex parts,” said Darren Beckett. “I look forward to collaborating with the talented team here as the company expands its leadership position in 3D printing technology.”

As the new CTO, Beckett will lead the company’s research and development department and IT strategy. He will be responsible for driving the implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies and supporting the company’s technological development.
