Vertigo Mk1: 3D printer with auto-eject function on Kickstarter

The Vertigo Mk1, a new 3D printer from the startup Automated Layers, offers functions such as automatic component removal and bed cleaning. The company has currently set up a crowdfunding campaign for the device on Kickstarter.

A key feature of the Vertigo Mk1 is the auto-eject function, which automatically removes printed parts after completion. The print bed tilts 90 degrees so that integrated scrapers detach the parts from the surface without damaging the component. If an object gets stuck, a safety system stops the process and informs the user.

Thanks to active chamber heating, the build chamber is kept at a constant 50 °C, which is particularly advantageous for demanding materials such as ABS or ASA. This temperature minimizes warping and ensures higher print quality. Four integrated fans ensure even air circulation.

The Vertigo Mk1’s print head, the Hitchcock Toolhead, also supports multi-color printing and has a filament cutter to prevent material jams. The manufacturer claims a continuous operating time of up to 200 hours with a material consumption of around 5 kg.

With a price of USD 2,250 to 5,000 (depending on the version), the printer is expensive and is less aimed at beginners. Instead, it is a solution for professional users with high print volumes. However, supporters on Kickstarter should note that crowdfunding projects always involve a certain amount of risk. Delivery of the Vertigo Mk1 is planned from May 2025.
