WESCAD GmbH, an established industrial company that supports the automotive and commercial vehicle industry with customized production equipment, is expanding its manufacturing capacity by using the FX10 industrial 3D printer from Markforged. The decision to make the investment was made following in-depth analysis and visits to Mark3D. The new technology will primarily be used to optimize production processes and manufacture cost-efficient components.
“The overall package fits! It’s extremely easy to use and it works! We started in mid-June and have a capacity utilization of 100% from 0 to 100 with the FX10. That’s as good as it gets,” says Bernd Pille, Sales and Project Manager at WESCAD GmbH.
The FX10 impressed with its large installation space, its modularity and the continuous fiber technology, which is particularly suitable for parts subject to mechanical stress. Within a short time after installation and a two-hour briefing, the machine was ready for operation and delivered its first results.
The new technology offers clear advantages. In particular, components that were previously produced in several milled parts can now be produced as a single part, which reduces material and assembly costs and relieves the milling machines. Another advantage is the automatic component marking, which is integrated into the printing process, eliminating the need for manual reworking.
“What convinced us? The quality, precision, support and an all-round carefree package with software and co. No follow-up costs as with laser sintering. The ability to stop the build process and use nuts or sensors was just as important to us,” says Dennis Bartusch, Production Manager at WESCAD GmbH.
Thanks to the flexibility made possible by the FX10, WESCAD plans to further expand its production and integrate more 3D-printed components into the manufacturing process. This should not only improve internal processes, but also offer customers cost-efficient and needs-based solutions.
