Textiles can be designed quickly and precisely using a combination of 3D printing and bleaching. A simple method is used instead of fabric dyes or screen printing. A 3D-printed stamp is treated with bleach and then transferred to the fabric.
The procedure is simple, but details are crucial. An even application of bleach improves the print quality. The stamp surface can be sprayed or coated with a soaked sponge. It is also recommended to press the fabric onto the stamp from above to prevent the bleach from running. After application, the fabric should be treated quickly with hot air. This shortens the exposure time and ensures sharper edges in the design. The bleach must then be neutralized with cold water to stop further chemical reactions in the fabric.
