Lindner uses high-speed sintering for the production of agricultural machinery

Lindner Traktorenwerke, an Austrian family business, is known for its high-performance agricultural and municipal machinery. Through continuous innovation, Lindner has established itself in the niche of mountain and grassland management. A central component of this innovation strategy is the use of the latest 3D printing technologies, in particular High Speed Sintering (HSS) technology.

For Lindner, HSS technology is a flexible and economical solution for realizing a wide range of design variants and highly individualized products quickly and without high tool investment.

High-speed sintering technology has several advantages over conventional additive processes such as selective laser melting or multi-jet fusion. The scalability is particularly noteworthy: Industrial print head technology and expertise in large-format 3D printing systems make it possible to use HSS technology efficiently. With the VX1000 HSS from voxeljet, which offers an installation space of 1,000 x 540 x 180 mm³, economical series production of polymer components can be realized.

“Due to individual requests from our customers and the requirements for special small series, we had to look for alternatives to injection molding production. WESTCAM, voxeljet’s Austrian sales partner, provided us with expert support in this process and took over the production of the joysticks for us,” says Manuel Lindner, Head of Innovation & Quality at Lindner.

The decision to use HSS technology enabled Lindner to react flexibly to dynamic market requirements, develop new products more quickly and fulfill individual customer requests cost-effectively. This has enabled the company to strengthen its competitiveness and further consolidate its position as a leading supplier of agricultural machinery.

The successful implementation of HSS technology at Lindner demonstrates the potential of 3D printing in industrial production. Additive manufacturing offers significant advantages, especially for companies that rely on individual customer requirements and small to medium-sized series. With the continuous progress in 3D printing technology, large series are also becoming increasingly economically feasible, which further underlines the importance of this technology.
