Chinese Scientists Develop 3D Bioprinter to Create Blood Vessels

Scientists at Sichuan Revotek Co, Ltd., a biotechnological company based in Chengdu, have developed a 3D bioprinter to create blood vessels, along with a stem cell bio-ink and cloud computing platform.

The program’s leader, James Kang, and his team dubbed their proprietary bio-ink “Biosynshpere”. The new system could pave the way for patients-specific 3D printed organs, relying on blood vessels that transport important nutrients and oxygen to the tissue.

Featuring two nozzles, the 3D bioprinter is capable of producing a 10 cm blood vessel within two minutes.

The creative breakthrough in the 3D blood vessel bio-printing means we have mastered the stem cell-based 3D bio-printing technology,” claims Yang Keng, chairman of Sichuan Languang Development Co, Ltd.

Sichuan Revotek is currently seeking for collaborations with international bioprinting organisations to test their system.
