EnvisionTEC Launches Micro Plus cDLM 3D Printer for High-Speed Direct Investment Casting

At the JCK Las Vegas tradeshow, 3D printer manufacturer EnvisionTEC introduced a new, patented technology called Continuous Digital Light Manufacturing (cDLM). 

Their Micro Plus cDLM 3D printer creates 3D models up to a size of 45 x 28 x 75 mm for direct investment casting for the jewellery industry, reducing the printing process from hours to minutes. It features an average build speed of 10 to 20 minutes per inch (2.54 cm) on the Z axis, depending on the material used.

“The addition of cDLM technology to EnvisionTEC’s Micro Plus 3D printer is a game changer for the jewelry industry,” said EnvisionTEC CEO Al Siblani, “Traditionally, 3D printing castable materials such as our PIC 100 would take hours to build. With cDLM, bridal and fashion rings can be designed, grown, and ready for investment casting the same day, which is a huge advantage for the jewelry market.”

The EnvisionTEC Mirco Plus line of 3D printers will also feature an industrial UV LED light engine, an integrated PC with WiFi, and a built-in touchscreen. The Micro Plus cDLM 3D printer will be available as of August 2016.
