Freemelt and WEAREAM promote Industry 4.0 with strategic 3D printing cooperation

Freemelt AB, a Nasdaq First North listed deep-tech and green-tech company driving growth in 3D printing with its innovative solutions, has initiated a strategic collaboration with WEAREAM in Italy. The aim of this partnership is to accelerate the use of 3D printing in the mass production of industrial applications using eMELT technology.

Industrial companies switching from traditional manufacturing methods to 3D printing often face major challenges in terms of expertise and product development support. Bridging this gap is crucial for the transition to serial production in 3D printing and contributes to the industrial revolution that aims to create a more innovative, cost-efficient and sustainable manufacturing industry.

Freemelt CEO Daniel Gidlund comments: ”Freemelt and WEAREAM is a perfect match! It is exactly this kind of strategic collaboration the manufacturing industry needs and embraces – competence and application centers supporting industrial companies in the transition to more innovative manufacturing technology, like 3D printing. This strategic partnership ensures that eMELT and the E-PBF technology (Electron Powder Bed Fusion) take another important step in establishing Freemelt and eMELT as the leading technology for innovative serial production of industrial applications.”

WEAREAM, a center of excellence with extensive knowledge and experience in 3D printing, is based in Lombardy, Italy. Italy is now one of the world’s leading markets in the use of 3D printing as a manufacturing method and has recorded growth of 20% in the last decade, with the trend continuing to rise. The northern Italian region in particular has been a cluster of pioneers and innovative companies driving the industrialization of 3D printing for many years. Both the Italian government and the European Union are supporting this development with funding and resources. Italian manufacturing companies have achieved world-leading success with 3D printed applications in recent years, including turbine blades for the aerospace industry and orthopaedic implants.

To further accelerate the development and industrialization of 3D printing, Freemelt and WEAREAM have agreed on a strategic cooperation. As part of this collaboration, WEAREAM will install an eMELT-iD machine in its facilities, with production starting in July 2024. Freemelt, with its unique technology and products, will play an important and active role in the industrialization of 3D printing, strengthening the competitiveness of the Italian industry.

WEAREAM CEO Paolo Folgarait comments: ”With this strategic partnership, WEAREAM and Freemelt will enable the full potential by complementing each other perfectly to serve the market, support clients and the industry to adopt high-tech solutions based on new materials and the most innovative additive manufacturing technologies. WEAREAM is proud and excited about this collaboration with Freemelt.”

WEAREAM CTO Maurizio Romeo continues: “Thanks to our long-term expertise in E-PBF technology, WEAREAM is a perfect partner for Freemelt to ensure that the eMELT technology will deliver effective industrial production of demanding applications, where new materials and cutting-edge technologies will make the difference.”

This cooperation marks an important step in the further development of 3D printing technology for industrial series production and underlines the commitment of both companies to drive the manufacturing industry towards Industry 4.0.
