King Felipe VI presents Meltio with the 2023 National SME Award

At this year’s National SME Award ceremony in Spain, one company in particular was in the spotlight: Meltio from Linares (Jaén), known for its pioneering advances in the field of 3D metal printing. The award, presented by King Felipe VI, recognizes Meltio’s leadership in the development of a new printing method that produces metal parts with exceptional density and enables significant cost savings.

King Felipe VI emphasized the crucial role of small and medium-sized enterprises for the Spanish economy. Not only are they an engine for growth and innovation, they are also particularly susceptible to economic fluctuations. Appreciating and supporting these companies is therefore a critical aspect of government support policy.

The Spanish Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, and José Luis Bonet, President of the Chamber of Commerce, also praised the importance of SMEs. Bonet emphasized that events like this serve to highlight the achievements of companies, especially their ability to create jobs and operate internationally.

Meltio’s CEO, Ángel Llavero López de Villalta, highlighted in his speech the transformative power of companies and that “Andalusia can be a technological leader at a global level”. “We are the generation in history with more opportunities, there have never been so many changes in such a short period of time. Spain, in this new situation has an ideal position to have a great potential in the industrial sector,” said Llavero. The CEO of Meltio concluded by thanking the team that makes up the Jinense SME and their families for their dedication.

Meltio has set itself the goal of revolutionizing production processes in industries such as automotive, aerospace and engineering with its innovative 3D printing solutions. With an export share of 96% and customers in over 70 countries, Meltio shows how Spanish SMEs can be successful globally.

The seventh edition of the National SME Award, organized by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Banco Santander, underlines the central role of SMEs in creating jobs and wealth. A total of 1,740 companies from 50 provinces took part in this competition, which has received a great response since its launch in 2017.
