Danny van Ryswyk is i.materialise’s Designer 2014

Last week i.materialise announced the winner of the 2014 “Designer of the Year Award”.

Danny von Ryswyk impressed the jury with his instantly recognisable style featuring smooth surfaces, dark colours and attention to detail. Danny designs his surreal artwork with the help of a 3D software.

“His sculptures blend child-like fantasy with the macabre and the fantastical world of nightmares. His work is dark, brooding, and a mysterious fusion of dream imagery and Victorian portraiture.”

The other two nominees were Adrian Goegl, designer of the 3D printed eyewear Oak & Dust, and Negar Jazbi, who designs creative and distinctive jewelry.

Danny von Ryswyk commented on winning the award: “My most sincere thanks for choosing my artwork in this year’s contest. I would like to take this opportunity to make my compliments to i.materialise for their professionalism and high quality output of 3D Printed models.” He continues: “For me as a digital artist it has been of great value to work with a team of people who help me with my efforts to visualize my otherworldly fantasies and pushing the boundaries of 3D Printed artworks.”
