Lasermeister LM300A: Nikon presents new industrial metal 3D printer

Nikon Corporation has introduced two new products for the industrial 3D printing of metal components. The Lasermeister LM300A metal 3D printer and the Lasermeister SB100 3D scanner. These solutions are aimed at more efficient production and repair processes and utilize Nikon’s expertise in optical technology.

The LM300A system is based on Directed Energy Deposition (DED) technology and is a further development of the 100A series, which was previously mainly used for research purposes. It offers an extended installation space of 297 x 210 x 400 mm and processes materials such as nickel alloys, stainless steel, high-speed steel and titanium alloys with high precision of +/-0.5 mm in the XY axes and +/-1.5 mm in the Z axis.

A key innovation is the automation provided by the integrated SB100 3D scanner. This can scan workpieces such as worn turbine blades and automatically generate the data for 3D printing. According to Nikon, this can reduce repair times by up to 65% and minimize post-processing work.

Nikon has been active in the 3D printing sector for several years. Since the acquisition of SLM Solutions, the company has been offering a range of established metal 3D printers under the name Nikon SLM Solutions.
