Maker presents 3D-printed screw compressor

Indeterminate Design has successfully produced a screw compressor using a 3D printer. He had already tried to realize such a project some time ago, but was not satisfied with the result. Now he has made another attempt with an optimized design.

The design of the interlocking rotors posed the greatest challenge. To map the complex geometry, he used a Python script that read data from an existing rotor profile and prepared it for 3D printing.

A special high-temperature resin was used to print the rotors due to the high demands on accuracy of fit and temperature resistance. Indeterminate Design not only makes the 3D model design available to download free of charge from Printables, but also explains its development in a YouTube video.
