Shapeways Receives First HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D Printer

One of the leading 3D printing service providers, Shapeways, has installed their first HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printer in their factory in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, this week. HP has just unveiled their first 3D printers a few days ago.

Through the collaboration, that has been announced in October 2014, Shapeways and HP have been working together on the HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing systems. Shapeways writes in their blog: “They[HP] told us that the new machine would be built for finished manufacturing (not only prototyping), would deliver great quality, would be 10x faster than existing machines and deliver parts at greatly reduced cost.  We know that better quality, lead times of 1 or 2 days and lower prices are exactly what the market needs.”

With the first prototype to delivered to Shapeways, the two companies will continue to work together closely. Based on the service provider’s feedback of the 3D printer, HP wants to ensure printing quality, speed and experience are exceptional. Shapeways are optimistic to start using the HP Jet Fusion 3D printer “soon”, as they explain. The increase in printing speed could give the the ability to move from same-week to next day delivery, and all this at a lower cost.
