Dyndrite receives AFWERX award for 3D metal printing software solutions

Dyndrite, provider of the GPU-accelerated computation engine used to develop next-generation digital manufacturing hardware and software, announced that it has been selected by AFWERX for an AFVentures Open Topic 24.D Phase I Cohort Award.

Metal additive manufacturing (AM) offers immense opportunities for both the US Air Force (USAF) and commercial manufacturing sectors. However, the full potential of these benefits is limited by the significant time and cost required to develop AM parts, materials and machines, as well as the extensive testing and analysis processes required for qualification and requalification. These factors significantly impact the flexibility of the USAF’s AM processes.

A rigorous qualification process is necessary to ensure that all quality and safety standards are consistently met. Dyndrite addresses these requirements by integrating scriptable workflows into qualification and requalification that dynamically automate the entire build process. By automating tedious manual tasks such as part import, positioning, support, tool path parameters, laser parameters, labeling and traceable reporting, the time and resources required for qualification are significantly reduced.

“We are proud of the recognition by AFRL of the value of Dyndrite’s modern approach to additive manufacturing qualification,” said, Steve Walton, Head of Product for Dyndrite. “Our agile software-based process is a core ingredient to making AM a reliable, repeatable and cost effective serial production process.”

Dyndrite’s novel SDP Qual approach allows users to easily adapt to technological advances and changes in the supply chain without having to go through costly and time-consuming manual qualification processes. With Dyndrite’s solution, the Air Force can realize significant time and cost savings by performing fast and efficient qualification workflows to ensure their AM production is repeatable and predictable.
