Materialise introduces Mimics Flow Case Management software for point-of-care laboratories

Materialise‘s new software solution enables hospitals to track 3D printing and planning workflows and ensure that every step is quality compliant.

Personalized patient care, driven by technological advances such as 3D printing and advanced visualization techniques, is increasingly becoming a reality. The growing availability of 3D printing in the medical field has led to a significant increase in applications. However, hospitals often lack the right tools to scale their 3D printing and planning activities, ensure quality assurance and enable improved patient care.

“Point-of-care 3D labs are becoming more common as hospitals see the value in onsite 3D printing and advanced visualization for personalized patient care,” said Brigitte de Vet-Veithen, Vice President of Materialise Medical. “With the new Mimics Flow solution, Materialise offers 3D labs and the clinicians who rely on them a complete case management system to better organize, track, and collaborate on cases.”

Mimics Flow is integrated into the Mimics Innovation Suite 26, a toolbox for image-based medical engineering work, and provides a common working platform for all stakeholders, including 3D lab technicians, lab managers and clinicians requesting 3D services. With this unified platform, all workflows can be viewed, while individual user profiles can also be created with their own access and personalized rights. This simplified process helps to scale operations, organize files and increase efficiency in point-of-care 3D printing activities.

Quality management features in Mimics Flow Case Management allow hospitals to implement controls in their workflows and ensure that each case meets quality requirements. Users can record quality metrics and use the data to measure, analyze and optimize their 3D planning and printing processes. Automatically generated case history reports and action logs support seamless compliance and promote high quality delivery.

The 3D viewer speeds up the approval process by allowing both the 3D lab and the clinic to provide feedback and updates on the status of each case.

In addition to improving collaboration between hospital stakeholders, Mimics Flow Case Management can also be used as a communication tool for patients and colleagues. Using the 3D viewer during consultations allows clinicians to share or view their 3D models from any device.

Those interested in attending the 2023 RSNA Annual Meeting in Chicago can learn more about Mimics Flow at the Materialise booth (North Hall Level 3 – 8103) through November 30, 2023.
