Prusa releases firmware 5.1.0 for its 3D printers

The Czech company Prusa Research has released a major firmware update for its 3D printers. Version 5.1.0 brings numerous new features such as support for Input Shaper and print abort of individual models.

According to Prusa, printing times have been significantly reduced by optimizing network communication. As soon as the print job is sent to the 3D printer, printing can be started almost immediately without having to wait for the complete G-code file.

Furthermore, the developers are introducing a space-saving new file extension, “Binary G-Code”, which reduces the size of the print data by an average of 70 percent. For easier operation, the option to remove individual objects from the queue during printing has also been added.

According to Prusa, the firmware update 5.1.0 should noticeably improve the printing experience for owners of Prusa i3 MK3S+, MINI or XL. An update is strongly recommended. The release notes contain details on all changes.
