Schoeller-Bleckmann Oilfield Technology buys a Velo3D Sapphire XC 3D Printer

Velo3D announced that Schoeller-Bleckmann Oilfield Technology (SBOT), a leading supplier of high-precision components to the oil and gas industry, has purchased a Sapphire XC large-format printer. The new Sapphire XC printer is calibrated to print metal parts made of Inconel 718 and will serve SBOT customers’ growing demand for 3D-printed parts.

With the Sapphire XC’s latest printing technology, SBOT can cost-effectively produce high-volume parts that measure up to 600 mm in diameter and 550 mm in height. This represents a remarkable expansion of production capabilities. SBOT has already demonstrated its expertise in 3D printing in the past, particularly through its collaboration with U.S. subsidiary Knust-Godwin, which already operates several Velo3D printers.

“Additive manufacturing continues to see growing adoption and through Velo3D’s Sapphire XC 3D printer, our team can scale up the production of parts for customers with the Sapphire XC’s 400% throughput increase over the original Sapphire,” said Campbell MacPherson, SBO EVP of Advanced Manufacturing. “It will also increase the addressable use-cases for metal additive manufacturing by unlocking the capability of producing larger parts, allowing us to maintain our position as a leader in the industry.”

A unique feature of the Sapphire XC 3D printer is the geometric design freedom it offers. This allows SBOT to produce extremely complex and critical components with unprecedented precision. Complementing this, the company offers traditional manufacturing services such as CNC milling, turning, heat treating and material testing, providing customers with fully machined and ready-to-use parts.

“We are thrilled to partner with SBOT and expand our presence in Europe with our first Sapphire XC installation at a contract manufacturer,” said Benny Buller, Founder and CEO of Velo3D. “SBOT’s commitment to delivering high-quality components aligns perfectly with our mission to enable manufacturers to unlock the full potential of their products through additive manufacturing. We are confident the Sapphire XC’s advanced capabilities will empower SBOT to achieve new heights of innovation and excellence in their manufacturing processes.”

In conclusion, Velo3D’s growing presence in Europe highlights the growing importance of 3D printing in the manufacturing industry. The collaboration with SBOT reaffirms Velo3D’s leading position in advanced metallic 3D printing worldwide. With their extensive experience in the oil and gas sector, Velo3D brings valuable knowledge that will help SBOT optimize their production processes and increase their operational efficiency.
