Swiss 3D printer manufacturer Sintratec ceases operations

After a decade in business, the Swiss 3D printer manufacturer Sintratec has announced its closure. The Brugg-based company, which was founded in 2014 by a team of engineers from ETH Zurich and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, is considered a pioneer of low-cost SLS production. With the market launch of the first desktop SLS 3D printer “Sintratec Kit” in 2014, the start-up established this market segment.

Over the years, Sintratec has developed a modular all-material platform with the S2 and S3 printers. These models enable the rapid changeover of printing materials and seamless scaling of production output. Backed by venture capitalists such as AM Ventures and Extorel, Sintratec has become a leading 3D printing OEM with over a thousand SLS systems shipped in over 50 countries.

“The decision to close is extremely difficult, especially in light of our recent successes. Despite all this, we were no longer able to sustain the business financially,” regrets Dominik Solenicki, co-founder and CEO of Sintratec. Christian von Burg, co-founder and CTO, adds: “After ten years at the forefront of development, it is a great pity to close Sintratec now. However, we are confident that our technology will continue to have an impact.”

To minimize disruption for customers and dealers, Sintratec has partnered with long-time distribution partners 3DChimera and KREOS. 3DChimera will provide after-sales service for customers in the US and the rest of the world. KREOS, on the other hand, is responsible for the EMEA region and provides spare parts and printing materials.
