The start-up Tripo AI has presented a software solution based on artificial intelligence (AI) that is capable of converting two-dimensional images or texts into fully functional 3D models. The developers promise unprecedented speed, precision and user-friendliness.
According to Simon Song from Tripo AI, the tool is able to generate complete 3D models with high geometric complexity and photorealistic textures from images or text descriptions in less than 8 seconds. This should work significantly faster than previous approaches to automated 3D reconstruction.
According to Tripo AI, the AI software has been optimized with millions of training data from the fields of animation and video games in order to generate particularly detailed and accurate 3D models. According to the manufacturer, the results should therefore be comparable to elaborately modeled assets from these industries.
The generated 3D models can be used directly in professional 3D workflows such as game engines or animation software. According to Tripo AI, further processing steps such as adding animations are already possible.
The developers of the software see a broad target group ranging from professional 3D artists to gaming enthusiasts and 3D printing.
Currently, 10 models can be generated per month with a free account. In the future, there will also be premium packages for 29.99 US dollars (with 100 3D models) and 199 US dollars (1000 3D models). An API has also been announced.
