Brooklyn-based 3D printing service provider Voodoo Manufacturing will team up with Wide Open Arts for their annual curated exhibit held from January 21 to 24, 2016.
The art fair will feature a massive 3D printed city of towers designed by hundreds of individuals from across the globe. Currently, they are looking for artists, architects and designers to submit 3D designs of contemporary, modern and ancients towers for their project. The selected top tower designs will be sent to Voodoo Manufacturing for 3D printing.
The online application process is now open and closes December 15, 2015. Selected artists will receive documentation of the final display, a digital image of their individual tower once printed, along with visibility and acknowledgement on a dedicated page on the Outsider Art Fair website.
This exhibition aims to create a collective multiauthorial installation that descends from the Fluxus mail art movement. “Babel” is the 21st century mail art for the digital world. The final result will recall many renowned outsider environments such as Simon Rodia’s Watts Towers, Nek Chand’s Rock Garden and Le Facteur Cheval’s Palais Idéal.
December 11, 2015 – Update :
The deadline for submissions has been changed to December 31, 2015.
