YouWant3D is a recently founded online community to share your 3D printable models with other makers.
While many websites are out there offering free 3D printable content for download, Nena from YouWant3D explains, why the Italy-based team created yet another platform:
“We wanted to get ourselves involved into this adventure because we believe that there is not a website really designed for makers, fully independent from commercial mechanisms. By keeping in mind the growing need of finding a sense of direction among a wide range of models, not always good or useful ones, we set up a review system for contents: this method works and it allows the community to select the best models and the most original makers.”
The team also tried to facilitate and streamline navigation as well as the search for objects by setting up intuitive categories such as Gadgets, Home, Games & Toys, Fashion & Jewellery and others. Currently .STL, .OBJ, .DXF and .DWG file formats are supported.
YouWant3D is looking for makers to upload and share their project designs, that could be considered useful by other people. “We believe that sharing knowledge is the real value through which everyone can reach his/her own goals.“
