Zoetis, producer of medicine and vaccinations for pets, has launched a 3D printing and Augmented Reality based campaign across Canada to educate about flea infestation in the home as well as tick control strategies.
The company therefore teamed up with 3D printing service provider MatterThings and advertising agency CHM Communications to 3D print a total of 440 miniature model homes for veterinary staff to educate their clients by illustrating the issues. Moreover, a unique feature was incorporated using augmented reality. By downloading the Blippar app on your smartphone or tablet, you can hold the device up to several images on the back of the flea house and an educational video will start.
The 440 houses as well as their furniture were printed on over twenty MakerBot Replicator 2 3D printers over a period of several months. Each room took around 4.5 hours to print and used up 309 g of PLA filament.
