Urban Alps is a Zürich based company that develops a locksystem with 3D printed high security keys.
These keys are 3D printed with crucial information stored in a opening. This hole can’t be scanned or replicated with a photograph easily. To manufacture this keys Urban Alps uses additive manufacturing systems to print the security keys direct out of metal.
So having a picture taken of you key won’t get you a problem any more, like the one that happened with the TSA luggage keys during an interview.
The Urban Alps key doesn’t use any digital technology inside and focuses on mechanical information to secure the lock.
The company will seek financing this year over the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. Stay tuned!
